Term Two - Mantle of the Expert - Needs and Wants
Room 9 have been learning through imaginative inquiry, known as
Mantle of the Expert.
In the Mantle of the Expert, there is always an “enterprise” to be run and a client who needs help with a job needing to be done. The emphasis is on the tasks the children need to do, to make the “enterprise” a success and to serve the needs of the clients.
The enterprise: a Travel Agency who organized ‘intrepid journeys'.
The client: a company in New York called the 'Green Team' who requested a journey to somewhere where they could make a difference.
We got our thinking hats on, did some research and discovered Kibera, the world’s second largest slum.
The commission: to persuade the client to visit Kibera. Of course we would have to go there first, to experience Kibera first-hand and to take photos for the brochure. So we did!!
