Winter Acrostic Poems

In Room 4 we are a lively and enthusiastic group of Year 1 and 2 students.  At the beginning of term 3,  we wrote these acrostic poems to describe what winter is like.  Enjoy!

         *****************************************************************************

We snuggle up warm in our blankets at night.

In the morning there can be frost on the ground.

Nights are longer, days are shorter.

There is so much fun riding through splashy puddles.

Eggs, eggs, not many to collect any more.

Rain falling down my window.

                          By Jasmyn Rodriguez

Wind blowing madly in the trees

Icy on the brown grass

Noisy storms at the window

Thunder and lightning

Everything covered in snow at the top of mountains

Rain thundering down on the roof.

                        by Victoria Barber

Wind blowing the washing off the line.

I was inside playing.

Naughty wind blowing trees over.

Tired, I am tired when it is winter.

Eat, I eat lots.

Raining; don’t go outside it’s raining.

                         by Kyle Robinson

 Wind pushing the trees.

I play in the windy weather.

Nests falling off the trees.

Trees going side to side; dizzy.

Easterly wind makes me shiver.

Rain falling down on me.

                          by Leyah Wadham

Wind crashing on doors and windows

Ice making things freeze

Nice warm beds to keep you warm

Too cold; it makes me shiver

Each leaf falls down

Rain and thunderstorms

              by Jordyn Harrison

Wind swirling; trees falling

Icy frost on the grass; feet cold

Nights cold; water bottles warm

Trees falling; wind strong

Everything cold; winter clothes

Rainy days; umbrellas up.

Wild wind can wake you

I am tired from playing in the snow

kNowing that a storm will come

Terrible noises outside my window

Everywhere everything is cold

Rain is pouring down

                by Luca Zambuto

Winter is so cold

Icy cold lakes

Nice houses to keep you warm

Trees get blown down

Everywhere is wet when it

Rains!

                  by Aaron Houghton

 Wind blowing really hard

Ice on lots of trees

Not very warm

Thunder storms waking you up

Early morning frost on the grass

Rain hits the windows

              by Harrison Wills

Winter is freezing and cold

Ice falling from on top of your home

Nice and warm next to the fire

Terrible noises outside

Everything is cold

Rain falling from the sky; cold.

Wind blowing trees from side to side

Ice in bird baths

Nice warm clothes

Trees leaves fall down

Every day in winter it is cold, so cold

Rain falls down on the ground

                   By Sarah Everson

Winter is freezing …

    …like ice.

I have to wear …

   … warm clothes.

Night wind making it …

   … very, very cold.

There is so much rain …

  … that it floods.

Everything is freezing …

   … if you touch it.

Rain makes us not run …

   … out of water.

                        by Leopold McCabe

Winter is windy

Icy green grass

Nicky’s bed, warm and cosy

Trees feel cold and freezing - icy cold

Every day it is cold

Rainy weather and very, very cold

              by Nicola Sheath

 Wind blowing the trees down

Icy frost on the birds

Nests get frozen in the trees

Trees fall down, pulled by the bold

  wind

Everywhere there are leaves

Raindrops everywhere
