Guidelines for the Huapai District School Communication Book
- Reading, spelling and basic facts at the child's level will be key components.
- At times the teacher, at their discretion, may set some additional work. It will be at the child's level, related to the learning in class, meaningful and followed up.
- We do not support "busy work" which is unrelated to what the child is learning in class and not at their learning level. It holds no real significance or impact for the child.
- Being organised for the next day should be part of the home sharing experience.
- There will be at least one entry per week from school communicating learning and information. This will happen school-wide on Mondays.
- Parents are requested to sign the book once in a week to show that the communication has been received.
- We ask that students and parents take responsibility for returning the book to school, by Thursday.
- If parents would like their children to be doing extra work then the school will refer them to useful books and websites. This extra work is a parent's responsibility.
- Year 1 and 2 children will have their reading log as their Home School Communication Book. This needs to be returned daily.
