Learning Assistance
Learning assistance in literacy - reading and writing - and numeracy is available to students whose learning needs require it. Teacher aides work alongside classroom teachers to provide extra help. In general, students receive learning assistance within their classroom, rather than being withdrawn. The emphasis is on targeted assistance for a specified length of time, with teacher, teacher aide, parents or caregivers, and students all included in the goal-setting process.
The Resource Teachers of Learning and Behaviour (RTLBs) work with the school to provide specialised help to staff and children, assisting with assessments and the design of individual programmes for some students. The Resource Teacher of Literacy (RTLit) is also available to assist.
Parents are advised of any learning assistance their children are receiving.
