Statistical Investigations Term 3
First we wrote I wonder... statements. Some of these were:
I wonder if boys or girls are taller at 11, 12 or 13.
I wonder if more parents go to work if their children are in year 3/4 or 7/8.
I wonder if kids who have a tv in their bedroom get less sleep.
I wonder if boys or girls are more intelligent.
We made a hypothesis or prediction to say what we thought the results would be.
Then we made surveys to collect data.
Next we tallied the results and made at least two different graphs to present our findings.
Finally we wrote down what we noticed and drew conclusions.
Some of these were:
I noticed that girls are taller than boys at 11 but boys are taller than girls at 13. I conclude that girls grow at a younger age.
I noticed that more parents of older children go to work.
I noticed that boys and girls are equally intelligent.
We found that our results didn't always match our predictions!
We are super 'data detectives"!
