Term 2 2011
Our theme for term 2 was Communication Through Dance.
We began our learning journey by looking at Maori dance and some of the history.
We then looked at Pasifika dance and really liked the idea of a Samoan Sasa. Our dance that we performed at the Arts Extravaganza was based on a Sasa. We even made our own music and beats with a special group of room 14 students who were our drummers. They also used recycled objects as instruments, in line with our One People One Planet theme for the year. We were very proud of the effort we put in and we looked amazing on the night.

Term 3 2011
This term our theme is Science. We will be looking into forces and energy, we hope to learn lots about light and heat energy, with a focus also on solar power.
In Reading we will be looking at non-fiction texts to support our explanation writing. We will also be looking at some recounts and persuasive texts.
Our writing will consist of finishing our speeches, recount writing and writing to explain. We are preparing our speeches for the school speech competition so lots of oral language practise.
For Maths we will be cross-grouped. We will be learning Statistics and Addition/ Subtraction strategies.
This term we are introducing the use of Google Documents so that students can complete work anywhere by using their Gmail account to log on. it also allows Mrs Murray to edit and add comments to work from anywhere. This saves the use of USB drives and means that work is saved in another place. |
