Senior Leadership Message
“You will either step forward into growth, or you will step backward into safety.” - Abraham Maslow
Last week we saw our cross country take place. What a great event! What made it really cool was seeing one of our Year 4 students deciding to participate last minute. She wasn't the fastest runner and often found herself tiring out during practice sessions. Many times, she felt the urge to step back into the safety of not participating. Yet, with determination and the encouragement of her peers and teachers, she chose to push through. On Friday, while she didn’t finish first, she completed the entire circuit, proving to herself and all of us that it's not about how quickly you reach the finish line, but the growth and courage in taking on the challenge itself.
Growth is not just in the pages of the books we read or the math problems we solve; it is in the challenges faced, the friendships formed, and the mistakes from which we learn. Yes, it can sometimes be daunting. But remember, every little step forward, even if uncertain, holds the potential for immense growth.
While safety and comfort have their value, this term, we have been encouraging our students to stretch their wings, try new things, and embrace the unfamiliar. For in stepping forward, they'll discover not only new horizons but also the vastness of their own potential.
Whanau, as partners in this adventure, let's hold our children's hands, not to pull them back into safety, but to guide and support them as they step boldly into growth.
Looking forward to the remainder of the term full of learning, laughter, and leaps of growth!

Thank You
On Monday we celebrated with the children the reaching of our first goal of 60% families paying their school donation. It was pretty special to gather as a school for a shared lunch. Thank you for your support. We have reached 64% of our families now having paid their school donation. Our next goal is 70% and we have promised a pet day (which scares me silly) if we reach this goal. Great things are happening at Huapai. Thank you for your support! - John Petrie
