The Connection

Week 8

Term 1

Huapai District School

March 28th 2024

Senior Leadership Message

Here at Huapai District School we're all about uncovering what makes you, YOU. Our staff and senior students have been developing an understanding of their natural talents and strengths; working on how to best use these for maximal impact and outcome.

We think of CliftonStrengths like a treasure map, but instead of gold doubloons, it can lead to your superpowers. We believe every child has their own special abilities to be discovered and celebrated. Imagine your child as a puzzle, with each piece representing a different strength or ability. When they're engaged in activities that align with their strengths, they shine brightest! It's not only about academic success; it's about building confidence, resilience, and a sense of purpose. Imagine this: when you're doing something you're really good at, time seems to have no meaning, you’re in the flow – you feel awesome, right? That's what happens when you work in your areas of strength. It's not just about getting stuff done; it's about feeling happy and confident while doing it.

At our school, we're all about helping students and staff find their spark. Whether it's solving maths problems faster than a speeding bullet, painting masterpieces like Picasso, working in a team to problem solve successfully or enlightening a room of peers with a powerful speech - we're here to notice, to celebrate and to cheer them on.

We will celebrate your child's individuality and empower them to reach their full potential. Together, we can unlock a world of possibilities for their future.

Maree Lloyd
Deputy Principal

Time For Another Conversation

There have been a few incidents of a man approaching children in uniform in the local area. He is described as tall and slim with his hair in dreadlocks. Please take the opportunity to speak to your children again about keeping themselves safe when out and about. Some great advice can be found at the link below.

Mitch Joynt

Last week we had a visit from Mitch Joynt - NZ paralympian. He spoke to our students about setting goals and giving everything your best. We were also able to have a few races against Mitch at lunch time.
